Ok So Now What

Whew you mean we are finally done:) After all this time we finally built the church, we finally open the doors of the business, we finally got the website, the book, the CD, the degree, the 501c3 - Finally its over now we can rest, and watch the millions roll in, Praise the Lord!

NOT!

What are you kidding? Honey that was just birth and labor, now you have to raise the child. Because right now what you have is a baby, it needs to be nurtured and cared for, fed, and you have a while before it is ready to walk or take it's first steps.

In the natural we would never expect a baby to be able to walk or talk or feed its self when it's born right? So why do we get disappointed when our brand new church isnt flooded with members right away, I mean you did run radio commercials, put up flyers, and you did all that. So we are mad at the DJ at station WNOT because they won't put your song in heavy rotation. And you say God has favor on my life, yes he does but tell that to the other 1000 that are waiting in line with the same favor, only so many spots in a day. Ok so the fortune 100 won't even look at your resume but I graduated Cum Laude, aren't I supposed to walk in making 6 figures? Whew I finally got my soul mate it's going to be heaven on earth. Ok and here we go. You mean to tell me I got 5000 friends on myspace and not one of them bought my project or came to my event! (ouch sorry I know that hurt a little:)

OK Now what?

Again I ask you what is success? And are you defining success based on what society says. I find if each of us can answer that question individually and be satisfied with the answer God gives us we will not set our self up for failure. Now lets be realistic. Everybody is not going to be on billboard top 100, everyone is not going to land a dream job with a company car, expense accounts and a 6 figure salary, every church is not a mega church, every book is not a NY Times best seller. And (I'm sorry I have to do this again) Paypal, CD baby or snocap are not going to be depositing thousands of dollars into your account every week (sorry I know that hurt)

Now - Is that what all of us want?

Yes of course. However what does God say. What is his purpose for your talent, project, ministry or business. What is his use for it. Well I'm unique I'm not like anybody out there. And you actually believe that? Then we get into the comparison well this happen to this business, she got a big break etc. Stop it right now. Because what will happen if things don't line up the way YOU want them to, you will fold up your dream and put it on the shelf deaming it a failure.

Use me Lord!

The reality is God uses us and our talents for his pleasure, open your mind up, maybe what you have appeals to another audience other than what you thought it would. Perhaps your song may never be sung by a famous artist but they sing it every Sunday at church and people are blessed. Perhaps you are not on the NY Times Best seller list, but your story helped someone get through a painful situation. Perhaps actor you may never get to work in Tinsel town, but the play you did at your community theatre bought a family closer together. So you are not working at the Big 3 but God used you to start a bible study at the small business across town and people who would have never gone to a church now sit and listen attentively.

And my preachers oh my preachers, you may never get to TBN, have a mega church, have a huge conference, preach on the platform with the whos who of ministry or have a national program, but you feed souls every week, you visited Sister Virginia in the hospital, you gave the Johnson family food and presents for Christmas, you helped teenagers in the church go to college, you prayed for Brother Bill when he was suicidal and God spared his life. So if God does all that my dear my question is to you:

So what should we do?

I say go in the vinyard and work and what is right he will pay. We forgot that heaven rejoices over 1 sinner that is saved, we are so busy trying to get "out there" we have forgotten to speak to our neighbor, visit the sick, or tell someone we love them. Remember that while in our eyes we are not successful until we have reached the "masses" in Gods eyes you are special just reaching one.

So again I ask you

NOW What ---

Love,

Vanessa
